Presents your vacation photos in an album
Present the photos of your vacation in an album which you can make accessible to others
in Internet. AlbumShaper divides the album in different collections in order to arrange
the pictures thematically. The image formats PNG and JPG can be imported. So, a picture
collection may be called "Lake Garda" or another "Trient". Then, you are ready to handle
the pictures. However, the program offers only a few standard tools to do so. This is why
we recommend rather a program like Gimp for the handling of the pictures. After
sequencing the photos, choose one as cover picture for the album and the collection. In
order to do so, you click onto the photo with the right mouse button and choose the
wanted function. To generate the album, go to "save" in the file menu. Now you have to
decide on one of the album models like metallic, slick or radiant and then finish the
process with a click on the save button. If you are well versed with Stylesheets, you can
design your own album models which must be stored in the sub-folder "themes".
Molding, rendering and animation of 3-D bodies
Blender is a 3-D molding program to mold, render and animate three dimensional bodies. In addition to
that, you can develop interactive 3-D games with the integrated Game Engine. Just a small extract of the countless functions:
- particle system to create fire, smoke, explosions, coat of animal, plants and shoals
- molding polygon meshes, curves, NURBS surfaces, 3D texts, metaballs
- animation with key frames, paths (path objects, curves), morphing, vertex keys, IK-system, lattices
- plug-in cutting site for post-production and texture plug-ins, free developing kit to program your own plug-ins
- script language (Python) to amplify the functionality, text editor
- sequential editor for postprocessing of animations
- creation of objects and animation by the help of pictures or movies
- file manager including preview pictures for administration of all file systems
Converts quickly images from one format into another
Bulk Image Converter is intended for the conversion of images from one format into
another with a minor expenditure of time. Select the folder with your images, define the
original format and target format and click on "Start". The new files will be deposited
in the same folder. You must tick "Delete original file after conversion", if you want
Bulk Image Converter to delete the original files. The tool supports the image formats
BMP, EMF, GIF, ICO, JPG, PNG, TIF and WMF.
CAD program intended to create two-dimensional drawings
CADEMIA is a vector oriented CAD-program developed for the architecture and building
industry which allows you to create two-dimensional drawings. It offers an import
function of drawings in the common DXF format. In addition to the usual drawing elements
like dots, lines, polylines and arcs as well as the tools for creation, positioning,
conversion and deletion of drawing elements, it also offers the use of planes (Layer
techniques). The entry of commands is carried out by menu, toolbar and command line. A
command always consists of a name and an argument. For instance, the command "addline 2 3
5 6" draws a line from the starting point 2,3 to the endpoint 6,5. In the menu, you draw
this line by "Add - Line". Then you enter the starting point and the endpoint into the
command line. If the program does not start you will need additionally
the Java Runtime Environment
or higher.
Provide your pictures with a copyright information!
With CopyRightLeft you provide your pictures (BMP, GIF, JPEG, PCX, PNG, PNM, TGA and
TIFF) with a copyright information. The tool supports batch processing, which means
that you are able to process several pictures in one operation. You are free to choose
any copyright text. You can underlay the copyright text with a color or a shadow or the
background may stay transparent. Additionally you have to select the typeface and size
and determine the distance to the outer image limits (shift x/y). With "Rotation in
degrees" the text can be inclined. All modifications which are not saved yet can be
removed with the "undo" function. You have to memorize the final result into one of the
formats that CopyRightLeft is also able to open, except the GIF format. As an additional
function the tool creates a simple chart of pictures for you to choose and then writes
them into a HTML file which you can publish in Internet, for instance.
Create all kind of diagrams and flowcharts
Similar to Microsoft's Visio, with Dia you are able to create any diagrams and flowcharts.
The program offers countless ready-made symbols for different fields of activities like
network, electronics etc. Further symbols can be created individually. That is what makes
it easy to visualize, for instance, the structure of a company or the design of your
homepage. With just a few mouse clicks you can draw objects, connect them with each other
by lines, describe by text, displace or adjust a single object or a group of objects. By
the way, several objects are marked by pressing the shift key. The layer-technique allows
the simultaneous processing of several projects, each of which are administrated in its
own window. Their diagrams can be exported into the DXF-format, amongst others.
Design your own typefaces (Truetype - TTF)!
Finally: We found a program that is really good for designing your individual typeface
(Truetype - TTF). In order to create a new typeface (File - New - Typeface) you have to
assign a project- or typeface-name, first. Then you must determine the path of the
project folder and inscribe the date of design as well as your name as designer of the
typeface. The processing window, the preview window and the object administration window
(register contour, module...) are at your disposal to create a new typeface. Would you
like to start with the capital letter A? Enter it into the search area, click on the
search button and a new processing window will open for this letter. With the module and
contour function you can integrate objects into the processing area. If you want to
displace the object click on "pick" and to setup your shaping points click on "pick
point". With the right mouse button you will shape the points and with the left mouse
button you will draw the points into any direction. The preview shows you what the letter
would look like. If you want to memorize a sign go to "File - Save...". The typeface with
its signs can be exported with "Typeface - Build Truetype" into the truetype format.
Doubletype stores the TTF file in the sub-folder BIN of the project-folder. In the DOC
folder you can find a good guidance in HTML-format about how to outbid the program
functions. To run this program,
the Java Runtime Environment
1.6 (J2RE) or higher is presumed.
Develop appealing mind maps!
This excellent tool allows you to develop mind maps that visualize your ideas graphically in a memorable way. The Mindmap-mode
is intended for the single place user with access to the local hard disk and permits the use of Freemind as a conventional
local mind mapping program. You eternize your brainwaves in so called nodes which are connected to each other by lines. Some
nodes are visible immediately, others become visible after a click on a superordinated node. You can create much more dependencies
among the nodes. The Freemind help document outbids these possibilities completely. Your mind maps can be exported into the HTML-,
PDF-, SVG-, PNG-, JPG- and OpenOffice.org Writer-format. In the browse mode Freemind conjoins web servers by the common HTTP protocol.
So it allows to observe directly those mind maps stored there. To run this program, the
Java Runtime Environment 1.6 (J2RE) or higher is presumed.
An alternative to high priced, professional graphics editing programs
It is THE photoshop-clone. Gimp was ported from Linux to Windows and it is an image
processing program with countless functions. Here, we are describing just a small extract
of all the functions Gimp offers: plane administration, retouching function, contrast
correction, gradation curve, histogram correction, color shade adjustment, effective
filters, a screenshot function and much more. You may need to get used to the handling of
the menu, first. In the processing window you have a fast access to the Gimp-function by
the context menu (right mouse button).
