This backup tool is able to encrypt backed files
With Areca you are able to create several backup projects in order to have important
files backed. First, you have to create a new group in your Workspace. Then, with "New
target", open a new window with where the backup order is created actually. In the main
area you enter an appropriate project name. In the "Local Repository" you must enter the
respective path which also could refer to a FTP server. The "Sources" area is designated
for the folder which has to be backed. In doing so, Areca takes into account all
sub-directories. If needed, the project can be described. Also you determine at this
point whether the files are to be compressed in encrypted form and if they are to be
packed into a ZIP package. Using a filter it is possible to exclude, for instance,
certain file types from the backup. You are able to simulate the backup in the Run menu
initially. Then, start the actual backup once the project settings are correct and
activate the "Incremental backup" if after the first backup only the modifications in the
source folder are to be backed. With "Recover" in the Run menu you are able to restore
backed files. All accomplished backups are listed right hand. "Archive detail" is opened
with a double click. Thereby you are able to see which files are existing in a packed
backup file. Areca does not offer an automatic time controlled backup, yet. The program
presumes
the Java Runtime Environment
1.6 or higher.

Protect delicate files - don't let anybody get hold of it!
The encryption program AxCrypt protects your confidential files from prying eyes. The
tool parks itself on the context menu of the explorer. From here, you are able to encrypt
one or several files simultaneously. You can choose between three ways of encryption. It
is possible to encrypt an original file or just a copy of it. In both cases you will
receive an AXX file which only can be decrypted by AxCrypt. If the file is for someone
who does not have AxCrypt, you need to encrypt the file as EXE file. Once a password is
defined the encryption starts. If wanted, the tool gives the AXX file an anonymous name.
After the decryption the initial name is re-set. In case a file has to be accomplished
after the decryption you have to select the opening function in the context menu. This
means that - if the file is an EXE file - you have to go on More and activate 'Open in
application after decryption'. A further feature of the tool is the possibility to delete
data irrecoverably.

Erase your data unrecoverably!
Once you erase your data with Eraser no tool will be able to detect them on your hard
disk because erased areas on the hard disk are overwritten repeatedly. After the program
start the Eraser icon appears in the task bar. You open the program window by a double
click. Click on 'Erase Schedule' and create a 'New Task' using the right mouse button, i.
e. you select a folder or a file which is to be erased (Drag and Drop is supported as
well). After highlighting the new entries you are able to erase these files radically
using 'Run Now'. This way it will be impossible to recover them. After that, the program
generates a LOG file to document the erasing action. In the scheduler you can setup the
erasing of files at regular intervals.

Verifies the file integrity of binary files and text files
File Verifier++ checks binary files and text files for their file integrity. Therefor the
hash value of a file has to be calculated. Like a fingerprint this hash value fits only
to the original file. The least change of the file results in a completely different hash
value. This is why the program is very useful for detecting erroneous file copies which
may have resulted from the transfer from the hard disk to a USB stick or from an Internet
download. First, define a hash algorithm. File Verifier++ supports Adler32, Posix, CRC16,
CRC32, SHA, RIPEMED, MD4 and MD5. For example, MD5 is used quite often for creating hash
totals for files on FTP servers. Now, use the files button to open a big video file or
integrate it by Drag & Drop. The result should be stored as a MD5 file. In the future,
this file will be used to verify a file copy. In the verification field the expression
'Invalid' appears in case the checksum is not correct i.e. the file has been modified.
You are able to create hash values of all files of a directory including all sub
directories. File Verifier++ is easily accessable by the context menu of any file.

Backs up files or synchronizes folders
FullSync is used to back up files and to synchronize folders. The program also offers the
access to networks and supports the following transmission protocols: FTP, SFTP and SMB.
It features four back up versions.' Publish/Update' transfers all modifications of the
source folder to the target. In doing so, new files in the target are ignored but
modifications are taken into account which means they are not replaced immediately. Aside
from erasures, 'Back up Copy' transfers all modifications of the source folder to the
target.'Exact Copy' transfers all source folder modifications to the target which results
in an identical copy. Finally, there is also 'Two Way Sync' which serves for
synchronizing two folders, updating newer files in the other folder. If you want
subdirectories to be taken into account you have to activate this separately. In case you
want a back up profile accomplished at regular intervals you have to define the
corresponding time interval in the 'Scheduling' area. Once a back up is started, a window
opens listing up all processes being accomplished according to your input. Now, you are
still able to execute modifications with the right mouse button. For running this program
the installation of
the Java Runtime Environment
1.6 or higher is presumed.

Serves for Encrypting Files
Gpgwin serves for encrypting files. Also, the program is suited for the encrypted
transfer of emails, Instant Messaging Chats and short news as well as the digital signing
of your documents. With Frontend GPA (Gnu Privacy Assistant) you are able to prepare
keys, import and export them as well as encrypt or decrypt the content of an active
window. First of all, you have to create your own key consisting of a public key and a
private key. You pass the public key to everyone who wants to send you an encrypted email.
This key is needed to encrypt emails the way that only the receiver owning the
corresponding private key and the password is able to decrypt it and to read it. Using
the export function, the public key can be exported as a file (Keys - Export Keys) or
copied into the clipboard.
