Saves Any Document as a PDF
PDFCreator installs itself as a printer which allows you to store documents of any
application into pdf. Therefore you click on "Print" in the respective application and
select 'PDFCreator' of the printing list. After a short loading time, the PDFCreator
printing monitor appears. Please, enter the document title, date of creation, subject,
keywords as well as the author. If needed, the documents also can be saved as image files
(png, bmp, jpg, tif, pcx). PDFCreator complements your standard browser with a tool bar
which enables you to save Internet pages as pdf files quickly. During the program
installation you can choose a suitable 'pdf printer' for the network.
Analyze and Administer Processes and System Services!
With Process Hacker you are able to analyze and administer processes and system services.
With a double click on any entry in the process list (Processes) you open the task
properties (Properties). This way you can find out which modules the process is using and
if it is connected to any system service. By the context menu (right mouse button) you
can finish processes and services or reboot them. With 'Search online' the program uses
Google to search for information referring to the selected process. Using 'Run As', you
are able to use a program as a guest without having signed on. This way you save yourself
changing from one user to the other. 'View - Always On Top' maintains the tool window
always in the foreground. If the program does not start, you will need Microsoft .NET
Framework 2.0 or higher.
Creates Copies of the Content of a Diskette
The diskette is not out of use, yet. It still serves as a backup medium or as an
emergency boot diskette. RawWrite creates identical copies of the content of a diskette.
At the same time, also system files and hidden files are taken into consideration. This
is why the tool is suited for creating the backups of your boot diskettes. So the backup
diskettes themselves keep bootable. The handling is very simple. Please enter a file name
with the img file type (for example: boot.img) in the Read-Register. After clicking on
the 'Read' button, the program reads the inserted diskette and creates an image file
which is filed in its own program folder. In the 'Write-Register', you are able to write
these image files on diskettes again. The
Virtual Floppy Drive
tool creates virtual drives of these diskette copies. Important: RawWrite overwrites the previous
content of a diskette.
Accelerates the Opening and Printing of PDF Files
Sumatra PDF is specialized in accelerating the opening and printing of pdf files
considerably. Therefore you will have to do without some functions. The really important
ones are available, though. This includes the zoom function and the direct access of a
certain page (Go To - Page). The view menu offers diverse page views for you to choose.
"Single Page" only displays one page, whereas "... continuously" shows them all. "Facing"
shows two pages side by side. Several instances of Sumatra PDF can be started. In the
Settings menu (Options) you install the tool as a standard reader for pdf files.
Recovers deleted partitions if necessary
The program is arranged in the win subdirectory. After starting the program, please go to
"Analyse". Does the deleted partition appear in the following partition list? Now, please
select the line with the deleted partition. Using the right and left arrow keys you
define one of the denominators: P, L, E or D. If you want to recover the partition, leave
the 'L' there. With a click on 'P', the program displays the file structure of this
partition. Now, confirm with 'Enter', please, and go to 'Write' afterward. Immediately
the original partition structure is activated. After rebooting the program, the partition
that had been lost before should be available again. The Help screen in html describes
further approaches. In case you are using Windows 9x/ME or you can't boot with Windows
NT/2000/XP/7 anymore, you have to use the DOS version of TestDisk (..\testdisk\dos). For
that purpose you actually need a boot diskette or cd, such as those offered in
Bootdisk.com. In the win folder you also find the PhotoRec tool which accesses the memory area of
your digital camera and is able to recover deleted pictures, if necessary. Such programs
should be used with extreme caution, as they manipulate the partition area!
Presents Text Files as Books
Read text files (*.txt, *.rtf) as if they were books! The program presents the text newly
formatted and well readable on a page framed by tasteful designs. The full screen display
avoids any distraction from the actual text content. To open a text, click on 'Open' in
the browser area, first. Using the arrow keys you are able to move up and down in the
text file. With the space key you turn over complete pages. In the text reader menu,
there are many options for adapting the text display to your needs. For example, you may
modify the text margin, line spacing, type size, color and type face. In order to access
the menu, you just have to draw the cursor to the left half of the screen. Diverse
background and frame designs are available (Profile - General). Units of measurements
contained by the document can be converted in the convert register. If 'Allow editing' is
activated, you are allowed to edit the text. For locating a certain word, please enter it
in 'Find text'. Also the printing function and the link to the Gutenberg project should
be mentioned here.
Produces Up To Two Virtual Floppy Disk Drives in Windows
Virtual Floppy Drive produces in Windows up to two virtual floppy disk drives which make
floppy disk images available. It is very useful for everyone whose Laptop or PC does not
have a floppy disk drive. The shortcoming of this tool, not being able to produce images
of floppy disks yet, can be resolved with Rawwrite. VFD is able to extract image files
from Rawwrite
to a virtual drive. First, start or install the driver. In the
Drive0 or Drive1 register you open an image file and select a free drive letter. With
Persistent/Global the drive appears as soon as the VFD drive is active, also after
rebooting the system. A virtual drive only works in Windows, which is why it cannot be
used as a 'boot disk'.
This version works only on 32 bit systems!
Accelerates the Locating of Files on CDs and DVDs
VVV, Virtual Volumes View, facilitates the locating of certain files on a cd, dvd or
other media. In order to do so, the program archives in catalogs the structures of all
files of a folder and a subfolder or a drive. After clicking on New and then Catalog you
select a drive or a directory and enter an appropriate medium name. Once the medium has
been read, the complete folder and file structure is displayed with the medium name or
the catalog name. This is called a 'Physical View'. Use the right mouse button to click
on a folder in the left column. With 'Add To Virtual Folder' you are able to copy it into
the virtual view. Before doing so, however, you must have created at least one catalog
for this view (Edit - New Virtual Root Folder). In 'Virtual View' you may archive folders
of diverse catalogs. The search module scans virtual or physical databanks. The program
is able to search for a certain text in the beginning of or within a file name. Also, the
text could correspond with the complete file name. Additionally or on its own, file types
can be used as search filters.
Shows Differences between Files Based on Text
WinMerge compares two files that are based on text or two folders and shows their
differences. Please, open one file or folder in each of both working surfaces. The
comparison will start immediately. Differing, coincident and new lines are highlighted by
color. With the 'Copy right/left' button you adjust the contents. A multilevel undo
allows you to undo accidental process steps. In addition to that, the tool also compares
files in zip packages. To do so, it has to unpack those zip files, of course. For this
purpose, the program needs 7-Zip Plugin (Edit - Options - Archive Support), a free
unpacker. WinMerge inscribes itself into the Explorer context menu.
