Transfer files between your PC and a server

FileZilla is an open source file transfer client designed for moving files between a Windows computer and remote servers.

It is particularly useful for website owners, administrators and anyone who regularly works with files stored on another computer.

The interface displays the files on your own computer and the files on the connected server. Files and folders can then be transferred between both locations.

FileZilla supports common file-transfer protocols including FTP, FTPS and SFTP. Frequently used servers can be stored in the Site Manager, while a transfer queue provides an overview when several files are being uploaded or downloaded.

Why we selected it

File transfers are often an invisible but essential part of maintaining a website or server. FileZilla makes the process visual and understandable instead of requiring command-line tools. Anyone maintaining a traditional web-hosting account can use it to upload HTML pages, images and other files directly to the web server.

Best suited for: Website uploads, server access and FTP/SFTP file transfers.
